What is the speed of light?
The answer to this question was discovered 340 years ago by one of the great astronomers, on December 7, 1676. Google marked the 340th anniversary of the great discovery with fascinating Google Doodle today.
The speed of light was discovered by a Danish astronomer called Ole Romer. Before Romer, the famous astronomer, physicist and mathematician Galileo Galilei also tried to measure the speed of light. While the Galileo failed to determine the speed of light, Ole Romer succeeded.
To celebrate the discovery of the speed of light by Ole Romer, Google came up with an animated Google Doodle which depicts what led the astronomer to the historic discovery.
Today’s Google doodle shows how the study and the discovery came into being.
Roemer began his research decades later in 1673 when he noticed the time elapse between the eclipses of a Jupiter moon called Io, which Galileo had discovered in 1610.
By monitoring the time difference, Roemer estimated light seems to take about 10 to 11 minutes to cross a distance equal to the half-diameter of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. This means that light travels at about 200,000,000 meters per second, which is around 26 % below the established speed.
The Royal Observatory in Paris, for whom Romer was doing research works, wasn’t convinced with his conclusions. When other philosophers of the period, such as Christiaan Huygens and Isaac Newton backed the theory, it started gaining support.
It was finally confirmed nearly two decades after Romer’s death when English astronomer James Bradley in 1728 discovered the “aberration” of starlight and a speed of 295,000,000 meters per second for light
Through this series I am going to focus on how you can also own a domain, Set a simple but unique website/blog design, Run & optimise your website/blog for the optimum performance.
So you want your own domain, Right!!!!
The very first challenge for me was trying to understand how to install and set-up my WordPress blog. That was only the first challenge.I learnt all tactics through trial and error methods. It was the big thing among my friend circle to buy and run a domain.
Most of them asked me
“Why you bought the domain when free blog websites are available?”
“Have you taken any courses?”
“How much a domain cost?”
“Do I need to learn web designing?”
“How you are running?”
“How much time it requires setting a domain?”
“Can I run WordPress using Mobile?”
So in order to clear their entire question that was fired to me, I decided to start a series on How to Set WordPress Website/Blog in 30 minutes?
In this post, I’m going to clear above listed queries. If you have any other queries apart from these you may comment below. I’ll be glad to answer all your queries too.
The first query was
“Why you bought the domain when free blog websites are available?”
There are many websites such as WordPress, Blogspot, Blogger etc which offers free domain. But I opted for paid domain because Free domain has following disadvantages
No custom Domain
For example, you want a domain name “iwantanewdomain” then you are not going to get “iwantanewdomain.com”. You will be only eligible to get “iwantanewdomain.wordpress.com” or “iwantanewdomain.blogspot.com” etc.
Short period websites
Free domain offers domain registration free for only one year. After that, you should pay for renewal for that domain. These are useful for only short period websites. If you want to develop a website/blog for a long period, then don’t go for free domains.
Free domains are not index in search engines easily. If you want a good SEO for your blog/website, then you should opt for paid one over free one.
No guarantee of appearing in search engines
Google may ban the free domains. If it happens to your domain service then your blog/website will be no more available in search engines. Google has banned .co .cc domain in past (now it is accepting). So if it repeats again then your website will be no more visible in search engines.
You may loose your audience, ranking & backlinks after one year
When you go for a free domain after one year you should change your domain. so when you change your domain after one year then you may loose all your audiences, SEO, page rankings, backlinks, etc.
Even if you are planning not to spend any money on the domain then its okay you can opt for free websites and try your luck. All the best.
Next Question was
“Have you taken any course?”
No!!! I’ve not taken any kind of courses. I have learned by my own & still I’m learning a lot day by day.
“How much a domain cost?”
This is the standard invoice that I have received after my order on Godaddy.
“Do I need to learn web designing?”
No!!! You didn’t have to worry about the designing portion. There are many platforms available where you can easily design you page.
In the above invoice, you can find I have chosen Website builder as my designing platform.
“What are you are operating blog or website?”
I’m operating a blog site. Since Website builder was not at all feasible for blog sites so, later on, I switched my designing platform from Website builder to WordPress.
“How much time it requires setting a domain”
This depends on how fast you are. Within minutes you can place the order and within 30 minutes you can set your website easily.
“Can I run WordPress using Mobile?”
Yes!!! WordPress mobile application is available on Playstore. You can easily download and install on your device. But in the mobile application, you can only publish your content. You cannot design layouts and all.
I tried my best, to sum up, few queries.
This post is open for any kind of queries. Please share this post and help freshers. Stay tuned by subscribing to us for next post on Setting WordPress Website/Blog in 30 minutes
When our mighty soldiers were sleeping in their tents at an army camp close to the headquarters of the 12th Brigade at Uri in Baramulla district, 4 intruders with AK-47 rifles and hurling grenades banged on them. After huge firing at least 17 soldiers lost their lives and 30 others got injured s. The injured have been brought to army base hospital in Srinagar.

Who is responsible for the terrorist attack?
after listening to this news first thing which came into my mind might be yours too i.e. who are the real culprits.
they were sleeping at 5:30AM . they too are the human being so it is obvious they can sleep at 5:30AM. so they are not responsible for the terrorist attack. then who is ?
who sent them to Uri for guarding our nation. they were sent for a purpose or we can say duty so our country might not be responsible.
“We have known long enough who are behind sponsoring terrorism against India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. I think time has come to call their bluff and give them a befitting reply,” the minister of state in Prime Minister’s Office said.
finally, this host might be responsible for this attack as well as all the previous attacks.
what can be done to reduce such brutality?
- cut off the wings of terrorist by taking strict actions again terrorist hoster
- provide enough security to soldiers at least during their sleeping time.
“A befitting reply must be given to those who attack security forces,” said the daughter of SK Vidyarthi, one of the soldiers martyred yesterday.
Reactions in our country
“Decisive action needed against Pak” and “Give Pak befitting reply” seem to be the words on everyone’s lips.
PM Narendra Modi remains undecided about attending the SAARC summit in Pakistan later this year, and foreign minister Sushma Swaraj will have the Uri attack on top of her agenda when as she heads to New York for the UN General Assembly, sources told ANI.
Union minister General VK Singh (retired) cautioned that “we cannot take action on (an) emotional level” and added that the Prime Minister will soon make a decision on how to proceed.
“For one tooth, the complete jaw. Days of so-called strategic restraint are over,” wrote senior BJP leader Ram Madhav in a Facebook post.
“Terrorists and those who support terror should be given no quarter ” said the father of an earlier martyr.
“It’s very painful to see such incidents on our soil. This is due to the lopsided policy of the Indian government (both) at present and (in the) past towards Pakistan, terrorists and in particular towards the Hurriyat conference,” said NK Kalia, the father of Captain Saurabh Kalia, a Kargil War martyr.
“In this hour of grief, the whole nation is united. It’s time to hit back,” said minister of state for defence, Subhash Bhamre. “The supreme sacrifice of 17 brave soldiers will not go in vain,” vowed Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
“The fight against terrorism is collective and global. Every terrorist act touches everyone. The sooner some countries, especially our neighbour, realise it, the better it is,” said Congress leader AM Singhvi, on what’s believed to be the first ISIS attack on Pakistan army.
“Whatever is happening in Pakistan is the result of their own wrongdoings, said Union minister MA Naqvi, also about the Peshawar killings.
“High-level meetings are going on, let’s be sure befitting reply will be given (to terror supporters),” minister Bhamre said.
Amitabh Bachchan expressed his pain and anguish at the dastardly terror attack in Uri that killed 17 Indian army jawans on Sunday. Speaking at the press conference of Pink, “It’s a very sad news. Our jawans lost their lives for no reason or provocation. It deeply pains and saddens me. I hope our government will take some strict action.
“Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar who was present at the launch also expressed his anguish. “Whatever has happened is shameful and very sad. This is not good news.”
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan too condemned the Uri attacks that took place early. SRK took to Twitter and shared, “Saddened to hear of the cowardly attack in Uri. Prayers for the families of our martyred soldiers. & may the terrorists b punished soon.”
“Pakistan is constantly trying to unstable India by sponsoring terrorism and supporting terrorist organisations+ . India has been fighting relentlessly against terror and now the war is in a decisive stage. The martyrdom of our brave martyrs will not go in vain at any cost and the government is moving towards the right direction,”Shah said.
“To avenge yesterday’s Uri terror attack the Prime Minister has promised+ that those behind the Uri terror attack will not go unpunished. That should be the way forward. …. If terrorism is the instrument of the weak and coward, restraint in the face of repeated terror attacks betrays inefficiency and incompetence. India should prove otherwise,” Madhav, BJP general secretary wrote.
Who are with us
Bangladesh has said that the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War against Pakistan will remain in the relationship between New Delhi and Dhaka.
Sri Lanka on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on an army camp in Uri town in Jammu and Kashmir, offering condolences to the families of the victims.
Russian foreign ministry, in a statement, said, “Regarding the Pathankot Indian air base attack+ in January 2016, we are very concerned about the terrorist attacks near the Line of Control. We are also concerned about the fact that, according to New Delhi, the Army base near Uri was attacked from Pakistani territory.
“We believe that this criminal act will be investigated properly and that its organisers and perpetrators will be held accountable. We confirm our continued support for the Indian government’s counter-terrorism efforts.”
Condemning the attack, France said it “remains on India’s side in the combat against terrorism. It calls on every State to fight effectively against terrorist groups operating on their territory or from their territory against other countries.”
Acting High Commissioner for Canada to India Jess Dutton said, “The Government of Canada extends condolences to the victims and their families. We are appalled by these attacks and stand with the Government of India in the fight against terrorism.”

The US and the UK had also condemned the attack on Sunday
A kiida of engineering changed my life. You might have your own interesting story regarding how and when the word Engineering was introduced to you. Read more to find out my story.
I agree everyone came across the term “engineering” via random incidents. Some might have witnessed the term engineering during their early days of schooling, some might have heard from their parents, relatives or friend. And still there are some who knows engineering as a word only but they are unaware of the things that an engineer can do.
There is an interesting story how I was introduced to the word engineering. My primary school was completed in a local school of my city. The only thing we have to do is to study. Till 5th standard I was out the CAREER RACE but something else was written in my fate. Fortunately, I somehow manage to clear JNVST (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test) in the year 2006.
As an Indian, you must have little bit knowledge of this test. It’s an all India test to select few students mostly from the rural area and to provide them best opportunity to learn & study without charging any fees to them.
With the admission in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Raigarh (C.G.) I got wings to my dreams. The campus was fabulous, hostels were awesome, faculties were the best. There were 79 students more who got admission along with me. As a child, I guessed all of them to be toppers of their school.
After admission one out of four different houses (those were Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik & Udaigiri) is to be allotted to us & I was selected for Udaigiri. After the allotment of houses, our house captain ordered us (me along with the new boys in Udaigiri) to make a poster stating our name, class & aim. I haven’t concerned about my aim in life so I decided to ask one of our seniors.
Me : bhaiya! Can you please help me in selecting my aim?
He was kind so he agreed.
Senior : little bro! You can opt of doctor, engineer, police……..etc.
I was aware of doctor and police but the word ENGINEER kept echoing in my ears.
Me : bhaiya I have little knowledge of the work doctors & police do. Can you tell me what an engineer do?
Senior : An engineer is a person who deals with the daily life problems and provides best solutions for them. You might have read regarding the seven wonders of the world. Those are the example of the great things an engineer can do.
After listening to him I made up my mind to be an engineer and do such great things in my career.
That was the day when KiiDa oF EnGiNeeRiNG entered into my empty brain. And with each passing day KiiDa kept growing bigger and bigger. If same engineering KiiDa has already penetrated into your life during your schooling then you are among 5 millions of Indian students who dreamed of being an engineer.
You might have your own story regarding how KiiDa oF EnGiNeeRiNG entered into your head.
Feel free to share your story. I hope you will like this post even fake likes will be enough to encourage me.
